STARRING : Jagapathi Babu, Priyamani, Shyam, Kota and others

MUSIC : Koti
DIRECTOR : T Venugopal

RELEASE DATE : December 29th, 2011

Below Average
Jagapathi Babu and Priyamani paired up successfully for three films and this is their fourth film. As such there was some curiosity factor as to what they come up with in Kshetram. Coupled with this we have the subject - about God and spirits and revenge. Let us see how the film has finally turned out to be.

Story
The story is about two young people - Chakri (Shyam) working in Malaysia for a TV channel and his lover Sohini (Priyamani). They get married with blessing from the parents on both sides. When Sohini enters the house of her in-laws she comes to know some shocking news.

Kota and his son Aditya Menon have conspired and killed Chakri's uncle Veera Narasimha Rayulu as they wanted to stop him from bringing the deities of lord Narasimha Swamy from Penchalamma kona and installing them at a temple in the village. The reason is that the deity has 1000s of acres and crores of property in his name and so they dont not want this to happen. The crooks want to unsurp the property as the trust is held by Narasimha Raylu.

Narasimha Raylulu is killed and even his wife Penchalamma (Priyamani) is also killed. Penchalamma wows to complete the task undertaken by her husband. Now Penchalamma has come back in the form of Sohini. Penchalamma's spirit enters Sohini's body and completes the unfinished task.
Performance:
Jagapathi Babu is standard. His role is brief but he does a neat job. However the fire in him is missing. Priyamani plays a dual role and she is okay in both the roles. Kick Shyam also has a short role and he does it with full vigour. Kota is not that effective. Tanikella Bharani is seen in a sober role as a priest. There is nothing much to say about the other star cast - from Brahmanandam to Surekha Vani, Rajiv Kanakala, Siva Parvati etc.
Analysis
The story is neither new nor novel. It has been told several times before. The direction is lackluster and the screenplay is dull and confusing. There are several jerks in the film. The director fails to stir up the emotions and not a single scene is worth mentioning. There is also not high voltage drama or suspense and the film moves from one scene to the next in a slow and painful manner. The music is bad and so is the cinematography.
Verdict:
Kshetram is a badly made film and despite a decent star cast the final product is way below average. The film is a big bore from start to finish. Avoid the film.

Veedinthe - Movie Review

STARRING :  Vikram, K Viswanath, Deeksha Seth,
Sana

MUSIC : Yuvan Shankar RajaDIRECTOR : Susinthran
RELEASE DATE : December 30th, 2011

Below Average :
A new film by hero Vikram always heightens the expectations of his fans. Vikram is known for his novel and high voltage action films. Let us see what Vikram has come up with in his new film 'Veedinthe'.

Story:
The story is all about a happy go lucky boy Fire Sankar (Vikram). He is a gym boy and he works as a junior artist in films - playing mostly the role of a one of the gang members of the villain. Vikram comes across an old man Dakshinamurty (K Viswanath). He has a problem. His son is after his property as he wants to gift it to a powerful lady politician 'Akka' the president of the Pagati Chukka Party. In return he expects Akka to give her a party ticket to contest as MLA.

However Dakshinamurty is not ready to give way the 25 acres land to his son as he and his wife have built a beautiful orphanage that give shelter to thousands of children. Dakshnamurty's son and the goons of Akka, along with a powerful land mafia don Mustafa (Pradeep Rawat) are after him but he is rescued by Sankar and kept in his house. Sankar also falls in love with Deeksha Seth. He is helped in his wooing her by Dakshinamurty.

Dakshnamurty's son acts as if he has realized his mistake and also makes his father believe that Vikram is actually after his property. The orphanage finally gets into the hand of Akka. The rest of the story is how Sankar takes on Akka and ensures that the orphanage is back in the hands of Dakshinamurthy.

Performance:
The film is Vikram show all the way. He is as usual. He also enthralls his fans in as many as 17 different get ups. K Viswanath shows his caliber. He is very good in the first half, particularly when he helps Vikram in wooing his love Deeksha Seth.

Deeksha Seth has very little to do and she is okay. Sana gets to play a big role as a powerful lady politician. She does a good job. Pradeep Rawat is okay as villain.
Analysis:
Veedinthe is a simple story of a young man who aspires to become a big villain in films. He is a kindhearted guy. The story is too simple and the screenplay is too dull to enable Vikram to come up with something special. The film is entertaining in the first half and builds up some momentum. However the second half is slow and the film drags on and on before reaching a predictable ending.
Verdict:
The fans of Vikram go to the film with high expectations. While Vikram does not disappoint, it is the story and screenplay that play spoilsport. The direction is also weak. The end result of the film is same and predictable. Veedinthe is an average film and definitely not among the best from Vikram.
